Marcia Kagedan, Educational Director, brings her vast experience in Jewish education to our new Community Hebrew School of Bergen County which began in the fall of 2020. The Community Hebrew School represents the joining of the Hebrew Schools of the JCCP/CBT and the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/Congregation B’nai Israel.
Marcia has been the Educational Director at the JCCP/CBT for over 25 years. She has studied Jewish education at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Jewish Theological Seminary in New York, and Hebrew College in Boston. She received an honorary doctorate from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America for her outstanding leadership and contributions to Jewish education.
Marcia serves on the executive board of the Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies (BCHSJS), and for many years was chair of the JFNNJ Principals Council. She is familiar with bringing together students from multiple congregations in her role as Kehillah Director for sixth and seventh grade students for ten area congregational schools. She is also the USY and Kadima Director for three synagogues, including JCCP/CBT and FLJC/CBI. She has experience with students ranging in age from preschool through high school, as well as adult education.
